Press release 40:

PMDs, Politicians of Massive Destruction

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are requesting another 19 billion dollars of bailout money from Congress. No one should forget that Charles Schumer orchestrated what historians will call “The Biggest Fraud ever perpetrated on the American People in the history of our Nation.”

In the 12 years Senator Schumer has been on both the “Senate Banking Committee” and the “Senate Committee on Housing and Urban Development” thousands of banks went bankrupt, trillions of dollars of retirement, investment and taxpayer money were wiped out, millions of jobs were lost, the value of everyone’s homes dropped 30 to 40 percent and millions of homes have gone into foreclosure. The sole duty of these Senate Committees was to make sure that the “Stability and Integrity” of our Financial Institutions and Housing were never compromised. How do you rate the job Schumer did? Give him your answer on November 2, 2010.

Senator Schumer led the team to bail out the banks saying they were “Too big to fail.” What he meant was that they were “Too big of Campaign Contributors to him and other Senators to fail.” In fact, in a free market, there is no such thing as “Too big to fail.” Risk of failure and failure itself are key ingredients in free markets. Failure allows the system to cleanse itself of the reckless and stupid players. Failure allows more responsible and smarter players to move up and move our financial system forward. Now we are stuck with the same people that got us in this mess in the first place, giving even more campaign contributions to the Senators that led the financial institutions to the abyss. How do you rate the job Schumer did? Give him your answer on November 2, 2010.

Senator Schumer says he had to bail out the banks to avoid a depression. Unfortunately, those who lost their jobs are depressed, 80% of University students who graduated and cannot find a job are depressed, 30% of Americans who saw their salaries drastically cut are depressed, 100% of homeowners who lost 30% to 40% of the value of their homes are depressed, investors who had their life savings wiped out are depressed and finally 99% of Americans who will be taxed to death to pay for this mess are depressed. The remaining 1% got the bailouts and bonuses. Schumer didn’t lie, he prevented his banking friends from becoming depressed. How do you rate the job Schumer did? Give him your answer on November 2, 2010.

Senator Schumer says the banks are paying back the tarp money. Does anyone really believe these bankers reached into their own pockets to pay this money back?

The fact is that anyone who saw a massive increase in interest rates on their credit card bill is paying back the tarp money.

Anyone who used the ATM and paid the now doubled fee is paying back the tarp money.

Anyone who over-drafted their account with their debit card and paid the $35 fee is paying back the tarp money.

Anyone “day trading” and losing is paying back the tarp money because these banks have the power to manipulate the value of stocks.

Anyone buying fuel is paying back the tarp money because these banks have the power to manipulate to price of fuel oil.

The truth is 100% of the tarp money is being paid back by everyone but the bankers that received it. How do you rate the job Schumer did? Give him your answer on November 2, 2010.

The Senate is currently writing more regulations for banks at the same time, Schumer has spent the last three months with his fellow democrats parading them through Wall Street shaking down every banker for more campaign contributions. The new regulations do not touch Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, stock manipulation or fuel oil price fixing. These proposed new regulations are useless. If Americans really want to stop the nonsense on Wall Street, we must start having these guys explain themselves in front of a judge and 12 of their peers. How do you rate the job Schumer did? Give him your answer on November 2, 2010.

Every banker and every Democratic Senator on the Senate Banking Committee knew exactly what they were exposing the American public to and they chose to do it anyway. The bankers made billions in bonuses and lost nothing, Schumer and friends made billions in campaign contributions and lost nothing. Everyone else lost. Americans will continue to lose, if we do not remove Schumer and everyone like him from office this November 2. There is no one more dangerous to the welfare of all Americans and our Nation than Senator Schumer.

Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill:

I find it unbelievable that we do not have a fully tested, well rehearsed, emergency response plan in place to combat the oil spill that occurred in the Gulf of Mexico. The federal government employs tens of thousands of highly paid individuals to oversee the oil industry's activities off our shores and not one is smart enough to realize that with 3500 offshore oil rigs we need highly trained emergency response teams in place to combat any and all oil rig mishaps. Fire Departments, Police Departments and every emergency response agency in our Nation train and practice for every possible emergency, yet the Departments overseeing offshore oil rigs had no clear plan or even a team in place. In light of this revelation, I call on our President to order an immediate review of all safety and emergency response plans for all our nuclear facilities. We do not want to hear more sad stories in case of a nuclear mishap.

Using chemicals, that have not been fully tested, to break up the oil in the Gulf is a recipe for disaster. They will contaminate the entire eco-system of the Gulf for generations and we will end up with these chemicals in our food supply and bodies for decades.

Americans have to deal with this because campaign contributions, large steaks, expensive parties with pretty girls and gifts have always come first over the interests and welfare of the American people. In New York City, under Mayor Bloomberg, you cannot give an Inspector a friendly cup of coffee without both of you going to jail. It is time to implement those same "zero tolerances" at the Federal Level. Our President must fire everyone involved and double check every place the American interests and safety are vulnerable

Our Nation must still push forward with drilling offshore but immediately implement a fully tested and rehearsed emergency response plan to deal with any further mishaps. Americans should not suffer because of the gross negligence of federal employees and the stupidity of oil executives. However, we should never put our economy ahead of the preservation of our Country’s greatest asset, Nature. We can always make money, but once we destroy our environment we will suffer for countless decades.

05/21/10 Westchester County Resident And US Senate Canidate Michael Sepe Speaks Out On The Global Economy And Free Trade

Senatorial Candidate Michael Sepe issued the following Statement:

America is now in a global economy without restrictions.

That is the same as having 3 billion people who make 1 dollar a day without any benefits living next door to us and asking the American people to compete with them. The net result is equalization of standards of living and quality of life. Their standards of living and quality of life will greatly improve and our standards of living and quality of life will erode quickly.

Everything we are experiencing today is the direct result of being in a global economy without our government protecting us.

This is why we have massive unemployment and we will continue to have massive unemployment.

Schumer's answer to this problem is to print money and tax everyone to death to pay people to work.

In fact, after printing over a trillion dollars we still have almost 17% of our workforce unemployed, 80% of our college graduates unemployed and 30% of our workforce underemployed. 95% of Americans have now had their lives disrupted and over 50% have seen a dramatic decline in their quality of life and standard of living.

Schumer will pass a Value Added Tax if he remains in office.

Every tax increase and every new tax imposed is just an erosion of everyone's quality of life and standard of living.

Automation, robotics and ingenuity will always cause the loss of jobs, that is why we must immediately stop the further losses of jobs to other countries.

Invention and new technology is a major source of new jobs and we must protect and invest heavily in that source.

The only way to solve our Nation's problems and preserve our standard of living is to immediately impose fair trade restrictions, make our industries globally competitive again and reclaim the jobs lost overseas.

From this day forward, America must protect every job, no matter how big or small.

Charles Schumer's Votes To
Send American Jobs Overseas:

Voted YES on promoting free trade with Peru
.
Approves the Agreement entered into with the government of Peru.
Rep. KILDEE said: "All trade agreements suffer from the same fundamental flaw: They are not self-enforcing. Trade agreements depend upon vigorous enforcement, which requires official complaints be made when violations occur. I have no faith in President Bush to show any enthusiasm to enforce this agreement. Congress should not hand this administration yet another trade agreement because past agreements have been more efficient at exporting jobs than goods and services. I appeal to all Members of Congress to vote NO on this. But I appeal especially to my fellow Democrats not to turn their backs on those American workers who suffer from the export of their jobs. They want a paycheck, not an unemployment check.

COMMENT FROM
BLOG PUBLISHER:

Free Trade

So called Free Trade Agreements which the incumbent Republicrats and Demicans have supported have been a national disaster. The aftermath of these agreements can be seen in the form of closed and abandoned factories in every city.

The stories about job creation are just propaganda. If anyone disputes this try and find a job. Many of the people who voted for these agreements never had to work a day in their lives and they are the beneficiaries of cheap labor. In effect if you voted for the incumbent you voted to ship your job out of the country.
International Free Trade agreements often enslves people and often forces children to work in sweat shops
And because these forgien children and prison inmates work cheap - American workers can't compete with these unfair trade practices.
We muust stop unreglated free trade, because countries like China won't play fair our growing trade defict will destroy our very own ecconomy.

05/15/10 Chuck Schumer Is Hopelessly Clueless About The Terror Threat Facing The City

"The most dangerous place in Washington is between
Charles Schumer and a television camera."

Forget About Terrorism, I Must Use All Of My Resources To Fight Against An Airline Bag Fee !!!!!!

New York City Looses Terror Funds As Chuck Schumer Holds Press Conferences About Facebook And Airline Carry On Bags

Chuck Schumer Should Stop Holding Press Conferences And Start Lobbying Fellow Republican Barack Obama To Restore New York City's Lost Terror Funds

The federal government is severely cutting funding to subway and other transit anti-terror programs, while Schumer is holding press conferences about Facebook.

Schumer should quit holding mindless press conferences and start put pressure on the White House to restore $57 million in Terror Funds.... See More

Over the past five years Schumer has held countless press conferences as New York City has lost an additional 56 Million in terror funds.

New York City should not be forced to settle for less than its fair share of these security funds.

Eleven percent of port security funding does not reflect the fact that time and again New York is the prime target for terrorism in the United States.

It is alarmingly, that Chuck Schumer sat by as the city is only getting 11 percent of the total Federal Transit and Port Security Grants.

Schumer doesn’t hold the president responsible.

Instead, he said officials at Homeland Security and the U.S. Office of Management and Budget, rather than the president, when discussing the terror fund cuts.

The bottom line is, New York City continues to be the No. 1 target for terrorism in the United States and it's Chuck Schumer's job to make sure that federal anti-terror funding reflects that reality.

If Chuck Schumer was doing his job properly, then New York City would be able to get 3,000 surveillance cameras in Midtown Manhattan, if more UASI funding is appropriated to the city—something both Mayor Michael Bloomberg and NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly have pushed for.

05/15/10 The Tea Party is becoming a network for aspiring female candidates who are forgoing the male-dominated major parties,

'While no movement that uses Michelle Malkin as a poster girl could fairly be described as feminist, the party has become an insta-network for ambitious women like Zelenik. Some are aspiring candidates who could never get traction within the tight, local Republican Party networks. Some are angry-mom-activist types who, like their heroine Sarah Palin, outgrew the P.T.A. But some would surprise you with their straightforward feminist rage. For the last few years, Anna Barone, a Tea Party leader from Mount Vernon, N.Y., has used the e-mail handle annaforhillary.com: “The way they treated Hillary is unforgiveable, and then they did it to Sarah Palin,” she said. “I’ve been to 15 Tea Party meetings and never heard a woman called a name just because she’s powerful. I guess you could say the Tea Party is where I truly became a feminist.” - Slate - Hanna Rosin

Popular Mount Vernon Roundup Posts

Resources For Critical Readers

The critical readers of Mount Vernon Roundup know that when reading, viewing, or listening to any local "mainstream" news report or blog post, the main thing to realize is that truth and objectivity may be partialy obscured or totaly absent.

While local "mainstream" media outlets and blogs often self-righteously proclaimed that only the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, is published, the critical reader knows that local news reports in "mainstream" media have three primary purposes: (a) to entice their readers, (b) to be "politically correct" so as not to offend the powers that be, and (c) to lure advertisers by showing the number of docile readers the local publication draws.

Beyond these less than honorable motivations listed above, local "mainstream" reporters, editors and especially publishers are also prone to inject their own personal prejudices and biases, either consciously or unconsciously.

The critical reader should be aware of these potential problems. The critical reader needs to have many questions in his mind when examining local "mainstream" media items and blog posts.

Many times the vocabulary employed by local "mainstream" journalists and editors is often pejorative and very value laden.

Actually, this is an argument in and of itself that there is a bias.It is up to the critical reader to point this out by means of blog posts and letters to the local "mainstream" newspaper editors and publishers..

There are honest and objective local "Mainstream" journalists, editors and publishers who try and produce a newsppaper that presents all sides of every issue.

However, these local journalists, editors and publishers who have succeed in resisting the pressures to be biased are few and far between.

Many times the critical reader will discover that these local "mainstream" journalists, editors and publishers cave in to pressures, and/or who are prejudiced and nonobjective by nature.

It is therefore up to the critical reader to carefully evaluate and then reject or accept the claims and assertions that are made in any given news story or blog post.

Local "mainstream" journalists, editors and publishers need to make sure they produce well-researched articles that are based on objective description of empirical facts.

One of the goals of Mount Vernon Roundup is to help these local "Mainstream" journalists, editors and publishers need to strive to convey reality and contribute to enlightenment of Mount Vernon.

However, the critical reader must understand that journalism which abandons these criteria can be misleading and destructive, pandering to the powers that be rather than courageously and honorably serving truth and justice

Resources for Letter Writers

Mount Vernon Roundup publishes email addresses for reporters, editors, and publishers when such addresses are publicly made available.

We encourage our reader to send intelligent, civil, and reasonable emails to these journalists, editors and publishers.

However, a critical reader who sends some correspondence to an email address obtained from this website is, in one sense, representing this blog.

What the writer says, and how it is said, reflects directly on Mount Vernon in general and on this site in particular.

Local "mainstream" reporters, editors and publishers are interested in deadlines and getting stories written that people will read.

If a critical reader can help them do that, then their contributions will be greatly appreciated.

Remember, good stories are factual and well organized, but they also communicate something of the human spirit.

Likewise, letters to local "mainstream" reporters, editors and publishers, while based on heartfelt convictions, also should be well organized, with points and logic developed in a rational sequence.

Proper grammar, spelling, and capitalization also help the local "mainsteam" reporter, editor or publisher view the received letter as worthy of serious consideration.

Brevity and conciseness are very important, and a long-winded rambling discourse is not likely to be given serious consideration.

For that matter, a "letter" does not even have to be a letter, a single sentence can get a point across.

Nor does a letter have to be for publication or even come from a verifiable source, all it needs to do is provide valid food for thought.

Resources For Blog Comments

More and more local "mainstream" media-sponsored web sites are providing submission forms or links where anyone and everyone can post "comments" on their stories.

Some sites also provide various forums of one type or another. However, these forums may require registration.

Many of the comments, suggestions, and cautions that we have provided the critical reader about the submission of comments are very applicable to participation in these forums.

There are no established "standards" for the submission of these comments, and it is necessary and important to very carefully read the instructions, requirements, and limitations for submitting your comments.

Some local "mainstream" newspaper or blog sites may ask for a name, but these are not checked, so there is no need to use your real name if you do not want to.

Other local "mainstream" newspaper or blog sites may allow only a first name, some may permit the inclusions of URL references, links, HTML code, and email addresses, whereas others may not.

When submitting such comments, it is important to "take the high road."Personal attacks, hatefulness, rash accusations, snide insinuations, misleading assertions, and outright lies are the stock in trade of many posters, but the most effective way to disarm and dismiss these posts is to rise far above such tactics.

Name-calling, abrasiveness, unsupported and insupportable assertions, and otherwise descending to the level of negative posters' inanities not only undermines one's credibility, but reduces the likelihood that one's comments will be accepted and printed.

Submissions should be brief and concise.

Two or three short paragraphs is about all that the average reader will assimilate .

Be polite, but factual.

Try to deal with reality, and not with far out ideas or wishful thinking.

Take your own concept or idea and address it as thoughtfully, professionally, and concisely as possible.

But first read the existing comments and make sure you are not repeating what someone else has already posted.
